i also liked this poem because i felt a personal connection to it. she wrote about things that you do in your every day life, and how the little things can become poems. since we’ve been doing this blog its made me look at things so differently, especially with the way we’ve been looking at things throughout the year

i think she was refering to loosing things as an art because like art, it affects people in different ways and has a different affect on every single person

and to upload pictures, if you look right above the text box that you enter the post in, to the right there is a thing thats says “media” or something like that..the first link is one where you can enter pictures

Its a joke pertaining to a Wordsworth poem about the immortality of childhood. Wordsworth wrote a poem called “My Heart Leaps Up” in which he states “the child is father to the man.” He is making the point that children are far more in touch with their immortality than adults–that they are in a way smarter than adults. Hopkins is responding to it to make fun of close mindedness I think.

hmm. interesting… I wonder if (whatever Hopkins meant!), there’s something in there about all that we lose as we get older and assume we’re now ‘grown up’. Perhaps we would have something to learn from even our own selves as children – innocence perhaps, simple fun, trust, instinct (idyllic ideals of childhood, I’ll grant you!!).
Something about Jesus’ ‘unless you come as a little child’ stuff?

nice. I like your analysis- however, do you think that the shape of the poem has something to do with how you read it? It has a flowing, thin shape in the first 2 stanzas…did this add to your concept of moving on, of ‘flowing’ through life?

It put my entire analysis into one huge paragraph. WTF
